2D Animator - Short Film

About the role

Collaborate on a heartfelt 2D animated short film (approximately 2 minutes and 30 seconds) centered around a cat living in a family-owned independent bookstore. The story follows the cat as she befriends neighborhood strays by sharing her books. This personal project for a film student aims to capture warmth, community, and the magic of storytelling through animation. The animator will work remotely and play a key role in bringing the narrative and characters to life using Toon Boom Harmony.

Deliverables

• Animate a 2-minute-30-second short film in 2D, following the provided script and storyboard
• Develop expressive character animation for the main cat and supporting feline characters
• Collaborate on visual storytelling, ensuring emotional beats and narrative clarity
• Integrate feedback and revisions efficiently throughout the production process
• Deliver final animation files in the required format and resolution

Requirements

• Proficiency in 2D animation with strong experience using Toon Boom Harmony
• Demonstrated ability to animate expressive animal characters and convey emotion through movement
• Strong understanding of timing, pacing, and visual storytelling in short-form animation
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively in a remote setting
• Open to animators at beginner, junior, or mid-level with a portfolio showcasing relevant work
• Availability to start promptly and commit to the project timeline
