About the Role
The Vehicle Service Technician performs maintenance, repair, and inspection of organizational vehicles to ensure safe, reliable transportation for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). This role supports fleet operations by maintaining vehicle readiness, identifying issues early, and completing work in alignment with The Arc of Central Alabama’s standards for safety, reliability, and service continuity.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire service, and scheduled inspections.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and safety-related issues.
- Complete preventive maintenance activities to reduce breakdowns and extend vehicle life.
- Inspect vehicles for safety, wear, and regulatory compliance.
- Respond to repair requests and prioritize work orders based on operational needs.
- Maintain accurate service records, maintenance logs, and inspection documentation.
- Coordinate with the Fleet Manager on repair timelines, parts, and external vendor support when needed.
- Ensure vehicles meet licensing, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and workspaces in safe and organized condition.
- Support vehicle readiness for daily program use.
- Assist with emergency or urgent repair needs.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and reliable service aligned with The Arc’s mission.
