About the role

The Science Teacher at Pueblo School District 60 is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing an appropriate instructional program in an elementary or secondary learning environment. The role involves guiding and encouraging students to develop and fulfill their academic potential while maintaining a cooperative attitude with staff, parents, and students.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver lessons aligned with Common Core standards and curriculum objectives.
• Use current and relevant subject matter and technology to support and differentiate instruction.
• Implement teaching strategies that emphasize student involvement and monitor student learning.
• Prepare daily lesson plans and maintain classroom discipline.
• Communicate with parents and other staff members to provide feedback and documentation.
• Assess student progress and adjust instruction as needed.
• Maintain a respectful and engaging learning environment.
• Collaborate with colleagues and participate in professional learning communities.

Requirements

• A valid Colorado Teaching License within 60 days from date of hire.
• A science endorsement or be highly qualified in the applicable content area.
• An ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
• Able to work collaboratively with staff, parents, and students.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of and ability to use research-based principles of effective instruction.
• Experience in a Title I or low-income setting preferred.
• Previous experience as a certified teacher.
