26-27 Washington -Certified Classroom Teacher
About the role
This position requires a current Oklahoma Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsements and a Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field. No additional training or experience is required.
Responsibilities
- Participate in and contribute to curriculum development programs.
- Understand and apply principles of child development.
- Use a variety of strategies to facilitate learning and provide opportunities for all students.
- Define objectives, adjust for individual and group differences, and establish closure for lessons.
- Evaluate students' academic growth using standardized tests and teacher-designed assessments.
- Administer group-standardized tests in accordance with the district testing program.
- Keep accurate records and prepare reports on students' progress.
- Identify and address students' needs, including those related to health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Organize the classroom routine to minimize disciplinary problems and handle minor issues independently.
- Maintain a positive and orderly learning environment.
- Abide by district policies and procedures, and teach adopted courses of study.
- Select and use appropriate materials to facilitate teaching and learning.
- Maintain building, equipment, and supplies in good condition and promote these attitudes in students.
- Establish rapport with students and communicate with parents through conferences and other means.
- Assist special education students with academic, social, and personal needs as outlined in their Individual Education Plans.
- Keep required records efficiently and legibly.
- Display knowledge and understanding of multicultural issues.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the principal.
Qualifications
Successful performance requires good customer service/people skills, handling problems, providing information and technical assistance, complying with safety guidelines and policies, following school dress standards, attendance/leave policies, and other work habits concerns for staff. Creativity, initiative, and effective problem-solving are critical to the success of the position.
