About the role
The Mentor of School-Age Students supports the Before and After School Enrichment [BASE] program of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Maintain supervision of all students.
- Provide a safe, clean, and risk-free environment.
- Engage with the children to encourage their development and involvement in activities.
- Maintain maintenance records, including, but not limited to: accident and incident reports, sign in/out sheets, attendance records.
- Greet parents and children daily and report or direct parental concerns to the lead teacher or director.
- Use positive guidance to support children.
- Follow DHS procedures and help others do as well.
- Provide care for the needs of children.
- Ensures compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must have a high school diploma or GED and 2,500 hours of service (2 years) of childcare experience preferred.
- 30 credit hours of early childhood, elementary or related human services field education.
- 15 college credit hours and one-year experience related to the care.
- 2,500 hours of service.
- Current CDA certificate.
- Must keep an up-to-date DHS file.
- Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire.
- Work with a minimum of 4 shifts per week.
