26/27 SY Crossing Guard

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Assist children in crossing streets on the way to and from school at assigned times and locations
• Attempt to cross all pedestrians including non-students as required by law
• Interact with children, staff and community members on a positive basis
• Place and remove speed signs and report maintenance needs when required
• Learn and follow state law and adopted procedures regarding the operation of school crossings
• Report student safety infractions
• Report license numbers of vehicles violating safety regulations
• Monitor and report infractions of state laws regarding school zones
• Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees, community members and vendors
• Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Education/Certification

• High school diploma or G.E.D.
• Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC)

Ada And Other Requirements

• Pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions
• Moderate Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 17 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects
• Requires regular holding a stop paddle at or above shoulder level when crossing pedestrians
• Working Conditions: Outdoor environment including exposure to noise and being on your feet
• Maintain reasonable awareness of pedestrian, vehicular, and other traffic in all directions
• Requires standing in inclement weather including summer heat
