About the role

Coaches student athletic programs.

Responsibilities

  • Coach student athletes in area of assigned responsibility.
  • Organize and supervise a total sports program.
  • Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees, community members and vendors.
  • Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
  • Other job related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Valid Arizona teacher certification, or Arizona coaching certification, or Level 1 Certification issued by National Federation of High School Associations (NFHS) (required for Head/Varsity positions only).
  • Previous successful coaching experience in the assigned sport.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC).
  • Obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Completion of NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Course.
  • Completion of NFHS Heat Illness Prevention Course.
  • Completion of NFHS Concussion in Sports.
  • Completion of NFHS Cheer & Dance Safety Certificate (for cheer positions only).
  • Completion of NFHS Cheer & Dance Safety Exam (for cheer positions only).

  • Standard practices, methods and materials of assigned work.

  • Specialized equipment relevant to area of assignment.

Physical demands

  • Positions in this class require: pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Standing for extended periods of time.

Working conditions

  • Work is routinely performed in an outdoor environment including exposure to noise and being on your feet.
  • Requires standing in inclement weather including summer heat.
