In Addition
An additional expectation for a Speech and Language Pathologist at BVP is:
- Provides consultation to classroom teachers on the development of language
- Affords assistance to teachers and teacher aides in developing language-based classroom activities
- Offers support to parents in learning methods to enhance language stimulation in the home
- Provides individual services to children believed to have speech and/or language disabilities
- Assesses needs in the areas of speech, language, and hearing and prepares diagnostic reports
- Serves as a member of a team that will develop an individual education program for each of the pupils enrolled
- Performs other duties as required by the Special Education Administrator
Qualifications
- Successful applicants must hold an appropriate Rhode Island certificate by their date of hire. Rhode Island offers reciprocity with over 30 states across the country. Learn more here.
- Experience with children is preferred.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred.
- Certification(s) in relevant field
- CPI certification
