About the role

The Middle School Science Teacher will support the social, emotional, and academic growth of students while honoring individual needs and developmental differences. They will plan, prepare, and deliver rigorous instruction aligned to 6–8 curriculum in core subjects, adapt instructional strategies for individualized and small-group learning, and monitor, document, and evaluate student learning and social development.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure students receive a high-quality educational experience that promotes strong academic achievement.
  • Hold primary responsibility for supporting the social, emotional, and academic growth of students while honoring individual needs and developmental differences.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver rigorous instruction aligned to 6–8 curriculum in core subjects, adapting instructional strategies for individualized and small-group learning.
  • Use academic data to adjust both whole-group and small-group instruction, ensuring alignment with student needs and grade-level standards.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and nurturing classroom environment that fosters independence, collaboration, and positive behavior.
  • Communicate proactively with students and families about academic progress, behavior, and classroom updates while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Participate in daily school routines and transitions, including arrival, lunch, recess, dismissal, and other supervisory duties.
  • Serve with a flexible, team-oriented mindset that recognizes no duty as outside the scope of the role, working together to meet the needs of students and strengthen the school community.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree, including any other requirements for accreditation, with a Master’s degree a plus.
  • State teaching license preferred but not required.
  • Active participation in a Christian church.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Team player committed to the St. Augustine Preparatory mission and model.
