About the Role

This position provides support to the instructional process by supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas, developing lesson plans, delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines, and collaborating with teachers, professional staff, and administrators to address instructional and classroom issues.

Responsibilities

• Plans and administers instructional programs in compliance with directives from School Administration, Board of Education policy, and state and federal laws and regulations.
• Oversees the overall instruction, operation, management, and supervision of the classroom.
• Demonstrates a variety of teaching methods to address individual student requirements and provide an effective program.
• Administers and develops subject-specific assessments to evaluate student competency levels and creates individual learning plans to improve academic success.
• Assesses student progress in relation to learning targets, objectives, and expectations while maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.
• Instructs and counsels students to enhance academic performance, behavior, problem-solving skills, health, and personal issues.
• Manages student behavior to ensure a safe and optimal learning environment.
• Collaborates with instructional staff, school personnel, parents, and community resources to support the school improvement plan and improve student outcomes.
• Supports and assists other classroom teachers with curriculum implementation and individual student plans.
• Directs assistant teachers, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers, and student workers to administer an effective classroom program.
• Advises parents and guardians on student progress, expectations, achievements, and methods for improvement.
• Responds to inquiries from teachers, parents, students, administrators, and central office staff to provide information and resolve issues.
• Prepares written materials such as grades, lesson plans, correspondence, examinations, attendance records, and anecdotal records to document student progress and meet mandated requirements.
• Participates in meetings and professional development activities.
• Addresses and reports incidents such as fights, suspected child abuse, or substance abuse to maintain student safety and adhere to state law and Board policies.
• Responds to emergency situations to resolve safety concerns immediately.
