Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging art lessons aligned with district and state standards
- Teach a variety of art techniques, media, and art history concepts
- Encourage creativity, self-expression, and critical thinking in students
- Audit and evaluate student work, providing constructive feedback
- Maintain a safe, organized, and inclusive classroom environment
- Manage classroom behavior and promote positive student conduct
- Prepare and organize art materials, tools, and equipment
- Display student artwork and support school art showcases or exhibitions
- Adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs and abilities
- Communicate regularly with students and families regarding progress
Qualifications
- State Certification as a High School Level Art Teacher
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignments
- Successful prior art teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred
- Organizational skills, ability to implement positive supports for all students, and ability to work cooperatively with others
