About the Role
The Educational Assistant role was established to provide support to the instructional program within assigned educational settings. The primary responsibilities include assisting in the supervision and instruction of students, observing and documenting student progress, implementing instructional plans, and providing one-on-one assistance to students.
Responsibilities
- Assists teachers in classroom or other educational settings, including setting up and conducting class activities and projects.
- Oversees, monitors, or conducts classes during the temporary absence of teachers.
- Prepares instructional materials and copies materials for classroom use.
- Sets up and assists with classroom technology.
- Assists in administering tests and evaluating student performance and skill levels.
- Creates bulletin boards, displays, or wall decorations, and assists with cleanup activities.
- Provides tutoring or one-on-one assistance to students in basic educational skills, including word study, spelling, sentence writing, reading, math, science, and other areas.
- Assists with the development of lesson plans and utilizes instructional programs.
- Monitors students in common areas such as cafeterias, auditoriums, halls, and bus zones, ensuring their safety and appropriate behavior.
- Organizes groups of students upon arrival and departure, and assists with seating arrangements.
- Chaperones students on field trips occurring during the regular school day.
- Performs clerical tasks in support of teaching activities, office operations, and other school functions.
Qualifications
- Ability to work collaboratively with supervisors, administrators, employees, students, and other stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills to interact with teachers, students, parents, and other individuals.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ensuring student safety.
- Regular attendance and punctuality.
Additional Duties
- Attends staff meetings, parent meetings, IEP-Team meetings, and other required meetings.
- Follows established procedures to ensure assigned areas are safe.
