About the role
St. Catherine's School is an Episcopal day school for girls in Richmond, Virginia, founded in 1890 enrolling roughly 950 girls in Early Learners (age 3) through Grade 12. St. Catherine's School provides a rigorous education that prepares girls with diverse perspectives for a lifetime of learning, leadership, and service in a global community. The school seeks a committed and compassionate Nurse to begin work in August, working Monday through Friday from 2pm to 6pm.
Responsibilities
- Assesses and treats student injuries and mild to acute illnesses.
- Collaborates with Lower School administration to monitor daily attendance and follow up with parents of students who are out sick.
- Works closely with the Middle and Upper School Nurse to track trends and patterns of illness.
- Ensures that all medications are available for students both during the school day or on field trips.
- Records, administers, and manages medications given to students.
- Supports and monitors the daily experience of students who must use medication in the treatment of illness or chronic disabilities.
- Records clinic visit notes.
- Attends meetings of the Student Support Team.
- Manages the return to school protocol for students who have been absent for an extended period or who have been on medical leave.
- Inventories and maintains clinic supplies.
- Teaches Family Life to students in coordination with the Lower School administration/faculty.
- Implements and upholds the School's access, equity, and belonging initiatives.
Requirements and Qualifications
- An undergraduate degree in Nursing.
- A Registered Nurse (RN) Certification required.
- A current RN license in the state of Virginia.
- Commitment to uphold the high standards of the School's established program.
- CPR Certified.
- Ability to become a MAT trainer.
PREFERRED: Nursing experience in pediatrics is preferred. Experience using leading technologies such as Google Suite is also preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to manipulate, handle and feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl; talk and hear; engage in moderately strenuous physical activity both indoors and out; and smell. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to become CPR and First Aid Certified.
