Role and Responsibilities

  • Maintain compliance
  • Keep certifications and licensure current
  • Willingness to be trained on and to use Accelify, our online software program
  • Write daily progress notes as required by Medicaid regulations in Accelify
  • Ensure treatment ties directly to IEP goals/objectives
  • Remain knowledgeable of current trends, including federal and state regulations in the field of occupational therapy and special education to ensure compliance
  • Build capacity and support staff collaboration
  • Consult with classroom teachers, job coaches, teaching aides and Directors of Student/Scholar Support Services regarding opportunities to incorporate occupational therapy goals into activities within the classroom settings
  • Provide professional development to teachers across scholar support teams to incorporate occupational therapy strategies into their classes
  • Meet monthly with Directors of Student/Scholar Support Services at the school where services are provided to discuss scholars’ progress and any barriers that have prevented expected progress or service provision
  • Participate in meetings with classroom staff and other related service providers to ensure each party is supporting the scholar in achieving his/her most rigorous post-secondary outcome

Qualifications

  • Must hold a license to practice occupational therapy in the State of Louisiana, as well as, the ability to obtain a valid LA ancillary teaching certification
  • Desire to work at a college-prep high school rebuilding urban education in the city of New Orleans
  • Deep belief that all students, regardless of their backgrounds and educational pasts, have the potential to succeed in college and beyond, and that it is the responsibility of schools to help students realize that potential
