About the role

The Quad Preparatory School is seeking a special education science teacher to teach middle school Earth and Space Science. The position is ideal for someone passionate about working with and connecting with Middle School-aged children, with a strong background in science and experience teaching students with special needs.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement high-quality, hands-on, inquiry-based Earth and Space Science lessons that are differentiated to meet the learning needs of the students.
  • Audit and evaluate curriculum.
  • Collaborate with clinicians and other academic staff to plan, integrate, and facilitate cross-curricular, inquiry-based projects.
  • Maintain accurate records using both the school’s learning management system and carefully managed portfolios of student work to illustrate and record progress and achievement.
  • Communicate with parents and guardians to provide feedback on students' academic and social-emotional progress through parent-teacher conferences, written reports, phone calls, and emails.
  • Utilize Google Suite, particularly Google Drive, Docs, and Sheets.
  • Attend all faculty and staff meetings, professional development sessions, and required special events.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in science education, elementary education, special education, science (any area), or a related field.
  • One year full-time teaching experience with upper elementary, middle school, or high school children.
  • At least three years experience as a full-time upper elementary, middle school, or high school science teacher preferred.
  • Master’s degree in science education, elementary education, special education, science (any area), or a related field preferred.
  • Special education training, including training in the areas of gifted education and twice-exceptional youth preferred.
  • Secondary Science, and/or Special Education teaching credential preferred.
  • Experience teaching twice-exceptional youth preferred.

Pay and Schedule

This is a full-time exempt position in an educational facility that is open eight hours a day. Teachers, psychosocial teachers, and staff clinicians work ten months out of the year according to the academic calendar (late August to late June). Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required, anticipating at least three of these events throughout the year. In general, hours are Monday-Friday 8am - 4pm.

This is a full-time exempt position in an educational facility that is open eight hours a day. Teachers, psychosocial teachers, and staff clinicians work ten months out of the year according to the academic calendar (late August to late June).
