26-27 Middle School Family and Consumer Science Teacher

About the role

The successful candidate will teach FACS (Family and Consumer Sciences) at Norman Public Schools. They must hold a Standard or Emergency Oklahoma Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsements.

Responsibilities

• Participate in and contribute to curriculum development programs.
• Understand and apply principles of child development.
• Facilitate learning through various strategies and provide opportunities for all students.
• Define and evaluate student objectives, adjusting based on monitoring and providing feedback.
• Evaluate students' academic growth using standardized tests and teacher-designed assessments.
• Administer group-standardized tests as part of the district testing program.
• Keep accurate records and prepare reports on students' progress.
• Identify and address students' needs, working collaboratively with other professionals.
• Establish and maintain a positive, safe, and orderly classroom environment.
• Handle classroom disciplinary issues while maintaining a positive learning atmosphere.
• Follow district policies and procedures, and teach adopted courses of study.
• Select and use appropriate materials to facilitate teaching and learning.
• Maintain building, equipment, and supplies in good condition.
• Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss students' progress.
• Assist special education students with academic, social, and personal needs.
• Present a professional appearance and demonstrate knowledge of multicultural issues.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Education or other field from a college/university recognized by the Oklahoma State Board of Education.
• No prior teaching experience required.
