26-27 Longfellow - English Language Arts Teacher
About the role
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality English Language Arts instruction to students in their assigned grade level. They will be expected to develop and implement lesson plans that align with district and site objectives, while also providing equitable opportunities for all students to learn and grow.
Responsibilities
- Understand and apply principles of child development to facilitate learning and participation among students.
- Translate lesson plans into engaging learning experiences that utilize available instructional time.
- Evaluate students' academic progress fairly and impartially using both standardized tests and teacher-designed assessments.
- Administer group-standardized tests in accordance with the district's testing program.
- Keep accurate records and prepare reports related to students' progress.
- Identify and address students' needs, including those related to health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Organize the classroom to minimize discipline issues and establish a positive learning environment.
- Maintain building, equipment, and supplies in good condition and promote these practices among students.
- Communicate regularly with parents about their children's progress and needs.
- Assist special education students with their academic, social, and personal needs as outlined in their Individual Education Plans.
- Perform teaching and reporting requirements as part of state and federally funded programs.
- Participate in school improvement planning and faculty committees.
- Work cooperatively with administrators, colleagues, students, and parents.
- Utilize discretion, ingenuity, and independent judgment in problem-solving and decision-making.
Requirements
Must possess a current Oklahoma Teaching Certificate with endorsements for the appropriate level/subject area. A Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field is required, along with a strong understanding of child development and effective teaching strategies.
Qualifications
Experience is not required for this position, but candidates should demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development and a passion for teaching English Language Arts.
Skills
Effective communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills are essential. The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and adapt to changing circumstances is also crucial.
