Position Summary
Teachers (4116.31)
- Teach students according to the curriculum plan adopted by the Board.
- Participate in committees dealing with planning, research, curriculum, public relations, or other professional activities.
- Exercise proper supervision and care over school property and report any abuses.
- Maintain classroom control and report any issues to the principal.
- Manage and supervise students as directed by the principal.
- Open and close school sessions punctually.
- Affirm Board rules and enforce them within their jurisdiction.
- Closely observe students and report any hindering defects.
- Prepare lesson plans, records, and reports as required.
- Work cooperatively with parents in the best interest of students.
Physical Demands
- Spend up to 70% of the day walking.
- Walk or run quickly through hallways and stairwells in emergencies.
- Stand for prolonged periods and respond to active crisis situations.
- Frequently lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Communicate effectively on the telephone and in person.
- Move throughout the building and between buildings.
- Necessary dexterity and hand/eye coordination for computer use and other office equipment.
- Adequate hearing for numerous conversations.
- Concentration and focus necessary for tasks requiring timeliness and accuracy.
