About the role

We are seeking a passionate, driven, and growth-minded Teacher in Residence to join our school community. This role is ideal for aspiring educators who are ready to learn in a high-impact classroom environment, grow their instructional practice, and develop the skills needed to become a strong, effective teacher.

What You’ll Do

  • Support a mentor teacher in delivering high-quality instruction and classroom management
  • Work with small groups or co-teach to support scholar learning and engagement
  • Plan lessons, create materials, and implement instructional strategies
  • Support scholars’ social-emotional development and positive behavior
  • Aid in data collection and progress monitoring to inform instruction
  • Build strong relationships with scholars, families, and staff
  • Participate in coaching cycles, professional development, and reflection
  • Complete requirements for teacher certification/licensure pathway

Required Qualifications

  • Your background shows readiness to begin a teaching career and grow into certification.
  • You have an Associate's degree or higher OR 60+ semester hours from an accredited institution OR passed the ParaPro Assessment (minimum 456)
  • You have an interest in pursuing teacher certification/licensure
  • You have a strong commitment to working with scholars in an academic setting
  • You are committed to Movement Schools' mission and values

Preferred Qualifications

  • You have experience or training that supports your readiness for a classroom role
  • You have coursework in education, child development, or a related field
  • You have prior experience working with children in educational or community settings
  • You have experience with tutoring, mentoring, or coaching
  • You are familiar with classroom routines, behavior management, and lesson planning

Compensation & Schedule

  • This full-time role aligns with the academic calendar and provides meaningful growth in a purpose-driven environment.
  • The starting salary is $42,000.
  • Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package available for eligible employees.
  • Schedule: Follows the academic calendar with pre-scheduled summer responsibilities for planning and preparation.
  • Additional commitments: Occasional evenings or weekends for family engagement and school events.
