Position Summary
What You'll Be Doing:
- Provide leadership in team dynamics according to MSHSAA standards for the activity of Dance.
- Implement and enforce activity standards as outlined in the MSHSAA Handbook and attend all MSHSAA required sessions for sponsors.
- Plan and administer Assistant Sponsor responsibilities.
- Plan activities that support school’s athletic teams.
- Dance Team perform three (3) productions for the following athletic contests: Homecoming, Court Warming plus one other school specific event.
- Assist in the coordination of the program.
- Responsible for student supervision at practices and contests.
- Care for equipment and facilities being used and inspect all athletic equipment and facilities (verify inventory).
- Organize and schedule practice sessions on a regular basis with the objective of developing the student-participants’ greatest potential.
- Emphasize safety precautions and be aware of the best training and injury management procedures.
- Conduct team and self in an ethical manner during practices and contests, always exemplifying the highest standards of sportsmanship.
- See that regulations governing building use and hours are understood and enforced.
- Arrange for the systematic return of all school equipment, maintain a correct inventory and hold the student-participant responsible for all equipment not returned in accordance with the KCMSD Athletic Department Handbook.
- Maintain records of team and individual accomplishments and arrange for the issuance of letters and special awards.
- Work with the site-based Athletic Director to provide a solid program.
- Continue professional growth through clinics and professional publications.
- Must complete MSHSAA Coaching Principles Course and First Aid Requirement.
To Be Successful at This Job, You'll Need To:
- Must have a Teachers Certificate or valid Substitute Certificate or Temporary (provisional) Teacher’s Certificate.
Physical Demands:
- Sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, use hands, fingers, reach with hands and fingers.
- Bend, stoop, lift objects of at least fifteen (15) pounds.
- Visual ability requires mono and color vision.
