Position Summary

Teachers (4116.31) shall instruct students within the curriculum plan adopted by the Board. They are expected to participate in committees, attend meetings, supervise students, manage classrooms, and enforce rules.

Responsibilities

• Instruct students according to the curriculum plan.
• Participate in planning, research, curriculum, public relations, or other professional activities.
• Exercise proper supervision and care over school property.
• Maintain classroom control and report any issues to the principal.
• Manage students and receive specific assignments from the principal.
• Open and close school sessions punctually.
• Affirm the rules and regulations of the Board and enforce them.
• Closely observe students and report any hindering defects to the principal.
• Prepare lesson plans, records, and reports as required.
• Communicate with parents in the best interest of the students.

Requirements

• Must be able to spend up to 70% of the day walking.
• Able to walk/run quickly in emergencies.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods and respond to crises.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
• Effective communication skills, including on the phone and in person.
• Ability to move throughout the building and between buildings.
• Dexterity and hand/eye coordination for computer use.
• Adequate hearing for conversations.
• Concentration and focus for tasks requiring timeliness and accuracy.
• Reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities.
