Pay: $15.30/hour (plus additional $0.75/hour when working 2nd shift during the school year). Full-time with district benefits included.

About the role

This position is responsible for keeping assigned building(s) clean, safe, functional, and secure in accordance with prescribed codes and established District policies and standards. Critical areas include maintaining all assigned building(s) in a state of operational excellence to ensure no interruptions, distractions, or obstacles to the education program.

Responsibilities

  • Daily custodial cleaning and preservation of facilities, buildings, spaces, equipment, and furniture
  • Maintain work-related records and prepare work reports as directed
  • Provide custodial and maintenance services to support curricular and extracurricular events and activities
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment needed for daily cleaning and provide usage data updates to Head Custodian as needed
  • Identify, schedule, and perform seasonal routine cleaning of facilities
  • Provide customer service to district staff, students, and visitors
  • Prioritize duties to address emergencies
  • Oversee buildings and grounds security, including opening and closing facilities and ensuring all doors are secure
  • Unload and load supplies, materials, and equipment as required
  • Perform landscaping duties, including mowing, weeding, and grounds maintenance
  • Perform snow removal duties, including shoveling snow and salting walkways
  • Adhere to all Custodial Department requirements, including proper use of machinery and equipment
  • Available to address on-call or overtime needs for emergency repairs, equipment monitoring, or other District requests
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Buildings and Grounds, Head Custodian, or Building Administrator

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) or 3 months of related experience and/or training
  • Required clearances upon hire and updated every five years in accordance with Act 153: PA State Police (Act 34), Child Abuse (Act 151), and FBI Fingerprint (Act 114)
  • Child Abuse training (or proof of completion) in accordance with Act 126 upon hire and repeated every five years thereafter
  • A negative TB test is required upon hire

Schedule

8 hours/day. 2nd shift during the school year; 1st shift during summer.

Physical, Mental, and Environmental Demands

  • Activities: Sitting <5%, walking/standing 95-100%, regular lifting up to 50 lbs. and occasional lifting up to 80 lbs., reaching with hands and arms, bending, kneeling, twisting, pushing, pulling, climbing on ladders
  • Vision: Normal close vision, color vision, and ability to focus
  • Mental Demands: Ability to interpret, analyze, and problem-solve written and verbal communications
  • Environment: Moderate noise level; exposure to hot, cold, dry, wet conditions, dust, caustic/harmful chemicals, blood-borne pathogens, and indoor/outdoor conditions; evening and weekend work
