Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and implement an expeditionary learning instructional program
- Create a dynamic and creative learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential
- Perform instructional and related duties in accordance with District policies and terms of the teacher contract
- Maintain a collaborative and inclusive relationship with staff, parents, and students
- Use current and relevant subject matter and incorporate technology into daily instruction
- Monitor student learning and adjust instruction accordingly
- Prepare daily lesson plans and assign and check homework
- Provide timely and accurate feedback to students, parents, and staff
- Collaborate with colleagues and actively participate in professional learning communities
- Teach both indoors and outdoors, and remain flexible regarding teaching methodology and differentiated approaches to learning
- Incorporate career and technical education into the daily curriculum and learning opportunities for students
- Participate in occasional overnight and extended learning expeditions
Requirements
- Valid Colorado Teaching License within 60 days from date of hire
- Be eligible for a TiR or Alternative Licensing Program in appropriate area
- Willingness to adopt and teach within the expeditionary learning model
- Completion of a fingerprint-based criminal background check and clearance by the Office of Human Resources
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary
- Previous experience in an expeditionary learning (EL) school
- Previous experience as a certified teacher
- Previous experience in Early Literacy, CLDE, ESS, and/or other content specific areas

- Ability to unpack standards and align with curriculum
- Ability to write specific learning goals, objectives, and outcomes
- Ability to analyze and use multiple data sources to make sound instructional planning decisions
- Ability and willingness to collaborate with colleagues and actively participate in professional learning communities
- Ability and willingness to integrate reading, writing, and math throughout the curriculum
- Computer expertise and expectation to learn Infinite Campus
- Positive public relations skills, professionalism, strong work ethic, ability to develop positive relationships with school and community
- Ability to demonstrate positive communication skills with students, parents, and teachers to enhance the educational, personal, and social aspect of each student
- Commitment to system change and strong evidence of being a "team player"
- Ability to remain flexible
- Ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis
- Ability to teach both indoors and outdoors and remain flexible regarding teaching methodology and differentiated and innovative approaches to learning

- Ability to provide hands-on, experiential, constructivist learning opportunities for students
- Ability to participate in occasional overnight and extended learning expeditions
