Temporary work site: Ashland High School. Reports to: Principal.

About the role

The Robotics Coach supports and oversees the high school robotics club. The advisor works closely with students, school administration, and staff to ensure the club operates in alignment with ASD standards and school expectations.

Responsibilities

• Holds organized, supervised practice as the program requires.
• Teaches the skills and strategies necessary to participate and to be competitive in robotics.
• Develops seasonal goals and objectives and daily plans.
• Develops lines of communication with students, staff, parents, officials, and booster clubs to promote robotics.
• Maintains records that include information about equipment, supplies, student eligibility, and emergency medical information.
• Ensures adult supervision of students before and after meetings, competitions, and on bus trips.
• Provides for the safety and security of all students.
• Follows all specified standards, policies, and procedures of the building and Ashland School District.
• Actively encourages student participation and promotes the ethical value of students.
• Maintains a positive working relationship with the administration and community that enhances robotics.
• Provides proper care, maintenance, and security of facilities, equipment, and supplies from the first day of the season until the cycle of responsibility is completed.
• Promotes concepts of sportsmanship and develops positive health and safety standards for all students in the program.
• Attends work regularly and is punctual.
• Annually passes the District's required online training by the District's assigned due-date.
• Implements decisions within ASD established policies and procedures while working collaboratively with others.
• Professionally represents the school and the District in interactions with parents, community, staff, and students and resolves conflict in a professional manner.
• Offers services wherever and whenever necessary to ensure the success of the district's goals.

Qualifications

• Background in a related field.
• Experience working with high school students in leadership, advisory, or extracurricular settings.
• Ability to mentor and guide students in leadership development and service learning.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to organize events and supervise students outside of school day and on field trips.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to communicate with others, including understanding and being understood.
• Must move between buildings and visit sites throughout the district.
• Requires the use of a variety of digital systems, software, and hardware.
• May require some travel outside the district.

Work Environment

• Noise level is usually low to moderate but occasionally high depending upon activities.
• Occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions and outdoor weather conditions.
• May be exposed to blood-borne pathogens.
