About the role

The Center for Theoretical Chemistry at Ruhr-Universität Bochum invites applications for Postdoctoral Research Associate positions in the Marx Group. These positions are available immediately or upon mutual agreement for two years with possible extension.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in challenging projects using and/or advancing modern ab initio simulation techniques, particularly in the context of highly accurate machine learning methods.
  • Collaborate with experimental partners and other theory groups on joint projects focusing on topics such as aqueous interfaces, vibrational spectroscopy, and quantum solvation.
  • Advocate for and utilize cutting-edge methods such as machine learning combined with path integrals in your research.

Requirements

  • Significant general background in molecular dynamics and electronic structure.
  • Experience in machine learning potentials.
  • A PhD in computational/theoretical chemistry/physics.

Qualifications

  • Strong academic record and publication history in computational/theoretical chemistry/physics.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to conduct independent research and contribute to cutting-edge scientific advancements.

Skills

  • Proficiency in ab initio simulation techniques.
  • Experience with machine learning potentials and their integration into theoretical models.
  • Strong programming skills, preferably in Python or similar languages used in computational chemistry.
