About the Role
Signal Support Systems Specialists ensure communication systems operate smoothly within Army National Guard units. Responsibilities include integrating signal systems and networks, performing maintenance on authorized signal equipment, and installing, operating, and maintaining radio and data distribution systems. Advanced team members supervise and train other Soldiers.
Responsibilities
- Maintain radio and data distribution systems
- Perform signal support functions and provide technical assistance for computer systems
- Train personnel on local area networks and automation/communications equipment
- Prepare maintenance and supply requests for unit-level signal support
- Operate and perform preventative maintenance on assigned vehicles and power generators
- Maintain and install signal support systems and terminal devices

Civilian Career Opportunities
Training prepares you for roles with companies producing communications and electronic equipment. Additional study and two years of electronics experience can qualify you for certification as an Associate Certified Electronics Technician.
Training
Job training consists of 10 weeks of Basic Training (basic Soldiering skills) and 18 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT), combining hands-on and classroom instruction. Training is paid, and tuition assistance is available.

Most non-prior service candidates will earn between $200 and $250 per drill weekend, subject to change.
Requirements
- Military enlistment in the Army National Guard
- Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or GED certificate
- Must be between the ages of 17 and 35
- Must pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
