About the Role
Signal Support Systems Specialists ensure communication flows seamlessly within Army National Guard units by integrating signal systems and networks, performing maintenance, and operating critical equipment. Advanced team members supervise and train other Soldiers while maintaining signal support systems, terminal devices, and vehicles.
Responsibilities
- Maintain radio and data distribution systems
- Perform signal support functions and provide technical assistance for computer systems
- Train personnel on local area networks and automation/communications equipment
- Prepare maintenance and supply requests for unit-level signal support
- Operate and perform preventative maintenance on assigned vehicles and power generators
- Install, operate, and maintain terminal devices and signal support systems

Civilian Career Opportunities
Training prepares you for roles with companies producing communications and electronic equipment. Additional study and two years of electronics experience can qualify you for certification as an Associate Certified Electronics Technician.
Training
Earn while you learn through 10 weeks of Basic Training (basic Soldiering skills) followed by 18 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT), combining hands-on and classroom instruction.

Most non-prior service candidates will earn between $200 and $250 per drill weekend, subject to change.
Requirements
- Military enlistment in the Army National Guard
- Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or GED certificate
- Must be between the ages of 17 and 35
- Must pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
- Must meet citizenship requirements (see NATIONALGUARD.com for details)
