About the role

NHS Lothian is recruiting for a Deputy Charge Nurse position at the HDU at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. The role is open to those who are passionate about leading and developing within the nursing profession.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire a team to provide high-quality, compassionate, safe, and effective care.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure patient-centered care.
  • Support the development of new leaders within the nursing and midwifery team.
  • Participate in clinical education and training programs.
  • Work with the Clinical Education and Training team to enhance leadership skills.

Requirements

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate alignment with the values and ambitions outlined in NHS Lothian's Nursing and Midwifery Strategic Plan. They should also have:

  • A proven track record in nursing leadership.
  • Experience in developing and implementing strategies for improving patient care.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of clinical education and training methods.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will hold a relevant degree in nursing or midwifery and possess a recognized qualification in nursing leadership. Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
