25-26 Intermittent Substitute Teachers, K-12
Qualifications
Candidate must be at least 18 years of age; Education equivalent to graduation from an accredited high school or General Education Certificate (GED).
Responsibilities
- Maintain and respect confidentiality of student and school personnel information;
- Maintain discipline and classroom control that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with school policies;
- Adequately supervise to assure health, welfare, and safety of all students;
- Report to Principal of the school upon arrival and departure at school if in person;
- Check in Frontline under substitute notes for link to lessons for the day;
- Review lesson plans, materials, and/or instructions left by absent teacher;
- Report student injuries, accidents, illnesses, or discipline problems to the school principal immediately or as soon as is reasonably possible;
- Implement lesson plans, while ensuring the integrity of academic time and in a manner which motivates students to learn and participate;
- Organize students for effective instruction;
- Dismiss all students from the classroom before leaving the building if in person;
- Comply with and support school and division regulations and policies;
- Model non-discriminatory practices in all activities;
- Perform other related duties as assigned by building administrator(s) in accordance with school policies and practices.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Experience in delivering lesson;
- Experience teaching or working with school age children;
- Teaching capabilities in all subject areas;
- Excellent communication and organizational skills;
- The ability to maintain effective classroom management strategies;
- The ability to follow oral and written directions;
- The ability to address the various learning styles of students;
- The ability to implement strategies, activities and techniques for promoting quality student performance in both academic and social behavior based on student's prior knowledge and experience;
- The ability to effectively contribute to and manage an individual program plan for students with special needs;
- The ability to create and maintain a climate of respect and fairness for all students;
- The ability to demonstrate fair and ethical judgments;
- The ability to apply appropriate consequences for inappropriate student behavior;
- The ability to display problem solving, cooperative negotiating skills and conflict resolution strategies;
- The ability to use classroom instructional time appropriately and wisely.
