21st Century After School Enrichment Specialist - IDEA Weslaco Pike (Immediate Opening)

IDEA Public Schools offers a grant-funded position with potential for extended funding. This role requires time and effort reporting as part of 21st Century grant requirements.

About the Role

The After School Enrichment Specialists will facilitate after school programming for priority students, focusing on academic support, enrichment opportunities, and college/career readiness. Specialists work 2–2.5 hours after school and collaborate with campus principals and the After School Coordinator to align programs with the school’s vision and priorities.

Responsibilities

• Implement a clear and consistent behavior management system aligned with campus-wide initiatives while developing students’ character and sense of community.
• Shape and develop a school-wide culture that fosters a productive and enthusiastic learning environment.
• Establish and maintain cooperative, trust-based relationships with students and families, respecting the communities they identify with.
• Provide leadership for enrichment and recreation activities, facilitating planned programs for groups of 12–18 students.
• Assist in developing students’ cognitive capacity, academic skills, and respect for learning.
• Foster students’ self-esteem and motivation through positive interactions.
• Work under the direct supervision of the Site Coordinator and attend scheduled meetings to coordinate program design, evaluation, and outreach.
• Collaborate with the Site Coordinator and Project Director to organize activity schedules, implement evaluation tools, and abide by all campus rules and procedures.

Requirements

• Current college enrollment (up to 15 college hours) or professional certification in the subject you will teach.
• Experience working with youth (formal or informal) and in a classroom/school setting (formal or informal).
• Must attach an official or unofficial transcript to the application to verify GPA and credit hours earned.

• Proficiency in tracking and reporting data weekly and monthly.
