21152: Part Time Caretaker

About the role

Temporary Vice Principal position at Father R. Perin School, a kindergarten to grade 9 school located in the community of Janvier, Alberta, approximately 120 kilometers from Fort McMurray. Learn more about Northland School Division at www.nsd61.ca/careers.

Responsibilities

• A passion for promoting educational success for Indigenous learners, especially in their language and culture.
• Fluency in language and experience in the culture would be an asset.
• Work closely with the school council and the community to build relationships to create a positive, inviting school environment integrated into community life.
• Actively seek local partnerships to create innovative program opportunities to engage and challenge students and promote a sense of pride and accomplishment.
• Serve as a strong instructional leader who works with staff to ensure students have high‑quality learning experiences.
• Lead by example and be active in the life of the community.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Hold or qualify for Alberta teaching certification and a Leadership Quality Standard certificate.
• Hold a Master's degree or willingness to complete a Master's degree within a mutually agreed upon timeline.
• Minimum of 5 successful years of teaching experience in rural and/or Indigenous communities.
• Leadership skills that can support literacy and language improvement through an Indigenous perspective at the school level and aligned with Division goals.
• Selected candidates must provide a criminal record and child intervention check.
