209-17 Direct Support Professional

About the role

Venture Community Services provides support to individuals facing diverse challenges through a compassionate and dedicated workforce using innovative practices that encourage independence, empowerment, and opportunity. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) advocates and supports adults 22 and over with intellectual and developmental disabilities, empowering them to be as active in their lives as possible.

The DSP assists with support needs including household maintenance, meal preparation, shopping, personal care (bathing, toileting, dressing, teeth brushing), medical appointments, banking, community integration, outings, medication administration, and following Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans, and medical guidelines. DSPs must safely evacuate individuals from the home in an emergency and maintain certifications in compliance with Agency policies and DDS regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with household maintenance, meal preparation, and shopping.
• Support personal care tasks such as bathing, toileting, dressing, and teeth brushing.
• Accompany individuals to medical appointments and banking.
• Facilitate community integration and attend outings.
• Administer medications and follow Behavior Support Plans and Individual Support Plans.
• Adhere to medical guidelines and Agency policies.
• Safely evacuate individuals in emergencies.
• Maintain required certifications (CPR/First Aid, PABC, Defensive Driving, MAP).

Requirements

• Must be 21+ with reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to speak, read, and write fluently in English.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including holidays, overnights, or double shifts.
• Must demonstrate the ability to perform the essential functions of the job.

Training

• Paid New Employee Orientation.
• Paid CPR/First Aid, PABC, Defensive Driving, and Medication Administration Program (MAP).
• Program and person-specific training at the individuals’ home.

Pay

$17.50 - $19.00 per hour.

Schedule

Part-Time: 14 hours per week (Sunday and Monday, 4:00 PM - 11:00 PM).
