2028 Intellectual Property 2L Summer Associate

About the role

K&L Gates is seeking 2L 2028 summer associates to join the Intellectual Property (IP) practice in our Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Pittsburgh, and Seattle offices. Recruitment for the 2028 summer associate program will focus on candidates interested in our IP Procurement and Portfolio Management and IP Litigation practice groups. The Summer Associate Program is designed to give law students a full picture of the firm. As a summer associate, you will work closely with experienced lawyers who will provide active mentoring while you learn about our clients, practices, lawyers, and culture. The firm values innovation, imagination, and an entrepreneurial spirit, guiding clients through complex issues across industry sectors and regions.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with experienced lawyers and receive active mentoring.
• Learn about the firm’s clients, practices, lawyers, and culture.
• Contribute to IP Procurement and Portfolio Management or IP Litigation matters.

Requirements

• A strong, expressed interest in our IP practice area.
• Possess a bachelor’s degree and/or advanced degree (M.S, Ph.D.) in a physical science (Chemistry, Biology, Physics, etc.) or a technical field (Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Pharmacy, etc.).
• A background or coursework in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science is preferred.
• Superior academic credentials and excellent written and oral communication skills.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a commitment to the highest quality of client service.
• Class of 2029 J.D. Student.
