About the role

As a Tax Intern, you will prepare business and individual tax returns while gaining exposure to a diverse client base across multiple industries. You will collaborate with internal teams to deliver high-quality client work and develop the technical and professional skills needed for career growth.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and other entities
  • Organize and review client-provided financial information to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Input data, calculate tax liabilities, deductions, and credits using tax software and tools
  • Conduct tax research to interpret and apply relevant tax laws, regulations, and guidelines
  • Analyze financial statements and records to identify tax-saving opportunities and compliance issues
  • Prepare tax projections and estimates to guide clients in making informed financial decisions
  • Communicate with clients to gather information and address tax-related inquiries
  • Explain tax concepts and implications to clients in clear, understandable terms
  • Collaborate with internal teams to provide timely updates and recommendations on clients’ tax situations
  • Ensure accurate and timely filing of tax returns and maintain organized tax files and documentation
  • Track changes in tax laws and regulations and assess their potential impact on clients
  • Collaborate with tax professionals to share insights, knowledge, and best practices
  • Support senior team members on complex tax projects, including audits and specialized tax services
  • Participate in internal training sessions to enhance technical skills and stay current with industry trends

Work environment

Work is conducted in a professional office environment with minimal distractions. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and performing work in front of a computer screen for long periods of time are required. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time. Travel may be frequent and unpredictable depending on client needs.

Education and experience

  • 0–1 year of relevant experience
  • Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • High school diploma or GED

Preferred qualifications

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Actively working toward achieving CPA or Enrolled Agent licensure or relevant certification, if not already attained
  • Responsible for completing the minimum CPE credit requirement
  • Experience with CCH Prosystem FX, Axcess Tax, Axcess Document, Axcess Workstream, Thomson Reuters Fixed Assets CS, and Checkpoint for Tax Research

Duration

This is a temporary internship position of less than six months.
