2027 Summer News Internship - Data Reporter

About the role

As a data reporting intern, you will assist in producing data‑driven reporting projects on legal, tax, and government topics. You will use routine data in daily stories as well as long‑term projects. Prior training or experience in data journalism is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform real work on deadline as a member of the team and walk away with clips to add to your portfolio.
• Learn to work with the sense of urgency and accuracy needed in a modern newsroom.
• Receive essential feedback and coaching from a mentor invested in your success.
• Engage with senior leaders and expert professionals at Bloomberg Industry Group.
• Participate in charitable activities.

Requirements

• Examples of data journalism you have worked on (to be provided during initial screening).
• Experience with Excel or Google Sheets (required).
• Experience with R or Python (preferred).
• A drive to produce great reporting.
• Willingness to collaborate with reporters and editors.
• At the start of Summer 2027, have completed at least three years of an undergraduate program (rising senior), have just graduated, or be enrolled in a graduate journalism program.
• Prior training or experience in data journalism.
• Ability to work within a team under deadline pressure.
