About the role

The Sophomore Career Exploration Internship offers undergraduate sophomores a ten‑week, project‑based experience in the Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s Statistics Function, which ingests and assures the quality of financial and organizational data from domestic and foreign depository institutions, capital market participants, and bank holding companies. Interns join a cohort‑based learning model, receive mentorship, attend learning events with senior leaders, and collaborate with peers and staff across the Bank, gaining real‑world experience, professional connections, and meaningful work that impacts the U.S. economy.

Responsibilities

  • Supports critical financial/organizational structure data capture, quality assurance, and analysis for data collections on behalf of a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conducts data analysis and visualization, as needed, to support client outputs.

Requirements

Expected graduation between Winter 2028 and Spring 2029. This position requires access to confidential supervisory information (CSI) and/or Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) information; eligibility is limited to U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, individuals meeting the definition of “protected individual” under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), and certain other nonimmigrants. Non‑U.S. citizens authorized to access CSI/FOMC must sign a declaration of intent to become a lawful permanent resident and subsequently a U.S. citizen when eligible.

  • A demonstrated interest in finance, data science, accounting, economics, capital markets, business, or operational management with a strong academic record and passion for data analysis.
