About the role

This 10-week Summer Internship is located at PIMCO’s Newport Beach, CA headquarters. As a Product Strategy Analyst, you’ll gain hands-on experience in investment management, financial markets, product design, portfolio analysis, and client communication. You’ll work alongside professionals, receive mentorship, and contribute to real projects while developing future-ready skills with AI-powered tools.

Eligibility

  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree—preferably in Business/Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or applied science
  • Must be eligible to begin full-time employment at a PIMCO office between January 2028 – August 2028
  • Must be enrolled at a university during the Fall 2027 semester (August 2027 – December 2027)
  • Minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) at an accredited 4-year college or university
  • Must be willing to work in Newport Beach, CA

Responsibilities

Responsibilities vary by team but may include:

  • Market and economic updates
  • Portfolio commentaries and construction
  • Competitor intelligence and client presentation materials
  • Risk and performance attribution
  • Development of AI tools to enhance workflow productivity

The Product Strategy Group is an entrepreneurial team focused on financial market expertise, strategic business management, new product development, and client messaging across PIMCO’s product lines. Interns gain broad exposure to financial markets, product design, portfolio analysis, and client communication.

Qualifications

  • Interest in financial markets, investing, and macroeconomics
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Analytical, detail-oriented skill set
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong time management and organization skills
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of personnel internally and externally
  • Curiosity and experience using emerging technologies and AI tools to solve problems

Internship Experience

  • 10-week program from early June to mid-August (full-time availability required)
  • Week 1: PIMCO Fundamentals Training to build skills, knowledge, and relationships
  • Guidance and mentorship from supervisors, peer mentors, and senior leaders
  • Mid- and end-of-summer formal feedback reviews
  • Hands-on experience with AI-powered tools from day one
  • Participation in PIMCO’s Global Month of Volunteering
  • Cross-divisional education, networking, and social events

Pay

Hourly rate: $43.26. Interns receive competitive compensation and a transition bonus for relocation to Newport Beach, CA, if applicable.
