2027 Summer Development Engineer Intern

The Development Engineer Intern supports project development with a focus on Distributed Generation (DG) projects, typically including Solar PV systems and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The target dates for this role are April–May 2027 through mid-August 2027. Employees are expected to be available during normal business hours and logged into group work-sharing and communications systems during those hours. All team members are expected to work together in a positive, respectful, and professional manner.

Responsibilities

• Support engineering and sales in project development with a heavy focus on thorough communication and the development of proposals and supporting documents.
• Analyze solar and BESS projects for feasibility, including design, project costs, and ROI.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to support the development of plan sets under direct supervision.
• Prepare and review submittal packages (including product data sheets, schematic drawings, detailed drawings) for content, accuracy, and alignment to proposal goals.
• Upload and maintain all internal documentation in the provided collaborative IT environment and manage document control processes.
• Complete ad-hoc reporting, requests, or other tasks deemed necessary.

Qualifications

• Working toward an undergraduate degree in engineering, environmental studies, or business.
• Work experience collaborating with others required.
• Basic knowledge and understanding of electrical or power systems.
• Experience performing sales liaison and client collaboration in energy or related industries.
• Proficiency with MS Office.
• Professional communication skills.
• Support and participate in continuous process and quality improvement.
• Ability to travel up to 30%.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly be required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, phone, and keyboard. May regularly need to lift up to 20 lbs. unassisted.
