About the Role

This Co-Op position offers hands-on experience across three work terms, with increasing responsibility and project ownership.

Responsibilities

  • Work Term #1:
    • Update plant layouts of machines and equipment using CAD (MicroStation)
    • Write, design, and coordinate work requests to install/relocate equipment
    • Perform time studies and delay studies of machine cycles and operator stations
    • Participate in improvement projects focused on operator stations
    • Support projects focused on Lean Manufacturing Principles (Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Pull Systems/Kanban, Quick Changeover, physical mock-ups/simulations, and Standard Work)
    • Participate in ergonomic evaluations and improvements
  • Work Term #2:
    • All responsibilities listed for Work Term 1
    • Design, implement, and improve material handling systems
    • Participate in Lean Line Design/Continuous Flow Workshops
    • Responsible for a large project from inception to completion
  • Work Term #3:
    • All responsibilities listed for Work Terms 1 and 2
    • Industrial Engineering responsibility for a small department within the plant

    • SAP

    • Lean Manufacturing concepts
    • Work measurement
    • Ergonomics
  • Work Term #2:
    • Time standard calculations
    • Lean Manufacturing training workshops (Standard Work, Value Stream Mapping, Lean Logistics Basics)

Requirements

  • Pursuing a BS in Industrial/Systems Engineering

Skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, PowerBI)
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to coordinate and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Self-starting, results-oriented, flexible, team player
