2027 Software Engineering Summer Internship

About the role

Motorola Solutions is a global close-knit community focused on keeping people safer everywhere through technologies that protect people, property and places. The ASTRO Devices Software team develops world‑class digital two‑way radios for the mission‑critical market, including the APX family used by firefighters, police officers and other first responders. This software engineering internship is based in Plantation, Florida. Travel is not required and no relocation assistance is provided.

Responsibilities

• Work in an Agile/Scrum team to analyze, design, implement, and test new two‑way radio products and features
• Teamwork in a multi‑site, world‑wide development environment
• Find, track, and repair RTOS device software defects
• Create and execute unit, integration, system, load, and acceptance tests

Requirements

• Currently pursuing at least a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
• Must be a US Citizen, permanent resident, or be an MS student with work authorization (F1 Visa on CPT accepted only for masters‑level students)

Skills

• Experience in C/C++ is a plus
• Experience in real‑time embedded software is a plus
• Strong communication and problem solving skills is a plus
• Experience using version control; Git is a plus
• Experience with Linux is a plus
• Experience with embedded development/debug tools (such as emulators/JTAG, etc.) is a plus
