About the role

Northrop Grumman is seeking Manufacturing Engineers to join the Aeronautics Systems Intern Program in Palmdale, CA. The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Production Engineering & Operations (PE&O) organization, working in a dynamic, people-focused environment interacting with users, customers, and other developers.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing and developing manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining, and material handling.
  • Construct, troubleshoot, calibrate, adjust, test, and maintain equipment, components, devices, or systems.
  • Work from engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions.
  • Operate related equipment; conduct tests and report data in prescribed format.
  • Perform calibration and alignment checks; make adjustments, modifications, and replacements as directed.
  • Prepare prescribed compounds and solutions.

Requirements

  • Enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university, graduating after August 2027.
  • Majoring in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related STEM degree.
  • Available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2027.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is required).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Majoring in Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Overall cumulative GPA of 3.25/4.0 or higher.
  • Previous internship/co-op experience, leadership and teamwork capabilities, interpersonal communication skills, and participation in professional, community, or extracurricular activities.

Pay

  • Undergraduate degrees (including graduating students planning to attend/enroll in a full-time Master’s program): $21.50 to $39.00 per hour.
  • Master’s: $30.50 to $48.00 per hour.

Intern pay rates are standardized and consider the anticipated graduation date, geographic cost of labor, and whether the internship is technical or administrative. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
