2027 Masters Hardware Design Verification Engineering Intern/Co-op

About the role
We are seeking a highly motivated Hardware Design Verification engineering intern/co-op to join our team and contribute to the design, build, and delivery of AMD’s high-end Machine Intelligence products.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with senior engineers and/or designers to build and complete performance verification test plans, simulation test cases, and models
- Write scripts related to tracking and managing compute resources using Perl/Python
- Test regression flows written in Perl/Python/MySQL/PHP to support project development
- Review new tools, processes, and options to improve simulation performance, team efficiency, and reduction of duplication
- Support debugging, improving test cases/models, and Verilog/SystemVerilog coding
- Build test platforms and perform system-level testing
- Engage in production validation tasks, testing integrated hardware and software functionalities to ensure problem-free production
- Use software and other tools to perform low-level testing of hardware/software features, debug technical issues, and identify root causes
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a United States-based university in a Bachelor’s program majoring in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
Skills
- Programming languages and scripts such as C++, Python, C, Perl, Shell, or UVM
- Verilog and SystemVerilog
- Good understanding of digital systems and computer organization
- Experience building a PC from individual components, installing OS/drivers, basic network configuration, or working with graphic cards, CPUs, or APUs
- System-level hardware and software design
- Development and debugging in Linux, Unix, or Windows environments
- Fundamentals of logic design (FSM, gates, registers, flops, timing, HDL)
- Understanding of analog and digital transistor device behavior
- Experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, voltmeters, logic analyzers, or multimeters

- Spring/Summer Co-op: January 15, 2027 – August 13, 2027 (full-time, 40 hours per week)
- Summer Internship (Semester Students): May 24, 2027 – August 13, 2027 (full-time, 40 hours per week)
- Summer Internship (Quarter Students): June 21, 2027 – September 10, 2027 (full-time, 40 hours per week)
- Summer/Fall Co-op (Semester Students): May 24, 2027 – December 10, 2027 (full-time, 40 hours per week)
- Summer/Fall Co-op (Quarter Students): June 21, 2027 – December 10, 2027 (full-time, 40 hours per week)
This role requires the student to work in either a hybrid or onsite work structure at one of the following locations: Austin, TX; Boxborough, MA; Fort Collins, CO; Longmont, CO; Fishkill, NY; Rochester, NY; or Secaucus, NJ.
