2027 Entry Level Gas Compressor Engineering Rotation

About the Role

This position is part of the Gas Compressor Engineering Rotation Program (GCE Rotation Program), designed to develop and train the next generation of highly capable and competent engineers through a coordinated two-year rotation. The program aims to build a strong technical foundation, provide challenging assignments, and offer broad exposure to Solar Turbines and gas compressor product knowledge.

Generally, the program consists of multiple three- to six-month rotations in departments such as:

  • Aerodynamics
  • Rotordynamics
  • Mechanical and Electrical Analysis
  • Mechanical Design
  • Manufacturing and Test
  • Systems Analysis
  • Product Management

At the end of the rotation program, participants receive long-term assignments in one of the Gas Compressor Engineering departments.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or other related Engineering discipline.
  • Overall GPA of at least 2.8 on a 4.0 scale.
  • 0-3 years of relevant work experience; previous co-op or internship experience is acceptable.
  • Technical knowledge of engineering fundamentals.
  • Must be able and willing to relocate to San Diego, CA.

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities for a variety of tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Pay

Summary pay range: $26.00 - $43.00 hourly. An intern's hourly rate is based on the major/degree being pursued and the number of completed academic hours achieved before the start of the internship.

Schedule

This position requires working onsite five days a week. Relocation is available for this position.
