About the role

West Monroe is seeking Consulting Interns to join our CIO Advisory Practice. As a CIO Advisory Consulting Intern, you will gain hands-on experience helping Chief Information Officers (CIOs) and technology leaders make and execute critical decisions about how technology enables their organizations. You will apply business, technology, and analytical skills to help clients align technology strategies and investments with business priorities, improve operating performance, manage cost and risk, and deliver measurable value. Your work may span technology strategy and operating models, technology economics and sourcing, enterprise applications and infrastructure, digital/cloud transformation, transformation management, and program and portfolio management.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with client and West Monroe teams to understand clients’ business priorities, technology environments, current processes and operating models, and future-state needs through interviews, documentation review, data analysis, and facilitated workshops
  • Capture and synthesize client and team discussions, identifying key findings, implications, decisions, and follow-up actions through active listening and critical thinking
  • Gather, analyze, and document business, technology, process, service, and solution requirements to support assessments, recommendations, and future-state designs
  • Assess technology capabilities, operating models, investments, services, and transformation opportunities to identify gaps, improvement opportunities, and implications for clients
  • Define key performance indicators and value measures, including associated data sources, calculations, validation approaches, and methods for tracking operational and financial outcomes
  • Support the development of analytical frameworks and quantitative analyses by defining data requirements, documenting assumptions, and evaluating costs, benefits, risks, and future-state scenarios
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses to answer client questions, including:
    • Collecting, organizing, cleansing, and analyzing large datasets
    • Developing business cases, financial models, and value assessments
    • Identifying trends, insights, and performance improvement opportunities
    • Developing and documenting recommendations, roadmaps, and execution workplans
  • Analyze data to identify trends, compile reports, and monitor results
  • Collaborate with clients and team members to develop storyboards and communicate complex concepts clearly and compellingly, translating analysis into decision-ready client deliverables
  • Leverage AI and automation tools to accelerate research and analysis, identify insights, and improve the efficiency and quality of client deliverables, while applying sound judgment to validate outputs, mitigate bias, and ensure recommendations are accurate and fit for purpose

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in progress, with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and August 2028
  • You will be asked to confirm your expected graduation month and year at the offer stage and prior to beginning your internship
  • We do request & review official transcripts from your school prior to the start of our internship program
  • If your expected graduation date falls outside of this range or changes, you are not eligible for this internship
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without limitation or sponsorship now or in the future (e.g., OPT, H-1B visa, TN, etc.)
  • Reside within 50 miles of your assigned office prior to your start date; our culture emphasizes team collaboration within a hybrid work model
  • Ability and willingness to travel (up to 50%); travel expenses covered by West Monroe
  • Experience integrating AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) into day-to-day workflows to enhance productivity and insight generation, coupled with strong critical thinking to assess accuracy, mitigate bias, and ensure high-quality outputs
