About the role

Join a dynamic Actuarial team at Florida Blue, where you'll contribute to high-impact projects that shape strategic decisions and improve the health and well-being of our members. This 11-week summer internship in Jacksonville, FL, offers hands-on experience, mentorship, and opportunities to present your work to the actuarial department.

Intern housing is provided near the St. Johns Town Center and less than 10 miles from the beach.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and analyses that directly inform strategic decisions across Florida Blue departments.
  • Gain insight into the full spectrum of actuarial work and its impact on members' health and well-being.
  • Work closely with a dedicated mentor to navigate a dynamic environment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional actuarial teams to broaden your understanding of the profession.
  • Present your summer project and findings to the actuarial department.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student and not graduating before the Fall 2027 semester.
  • Cumulative 3.0 or better GPA.
  • Basic PC skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous project experience or healthcare-related work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with others.
  • Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., SAS, SQL, VBA).
  • Strong time management and detail-oriented mindset.
  • Cumulative 3.2 or better GPA.

Physical Demands

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally to move objects. Traversing activities are required only occasionally.

Pay

Hourly pay range: $22 - $36. Typical hourly pay range: $22 - $27. Final pay will be determined based on market competitiveness, internal equity, and job-related knowledge, skills, training, and experience.
