A.I.R. Vallauris Rolling applications

About the role

The A.I.R. Fellowship Program integrates visual and performing arts into theological education and the life of the church. Based on the Wesley Theological Seminary campus in Washington, D.C., the residency provides a shared studio (38′ × 32′), a stipend, and access to academic and cultural resources, including lectures, concerts, and the seminary library.

Residents are expected to maintain a minimum studio presence of 10–15 hours per week, mentor up to 15 students for academic credit, and contribute to chapel services, exhibitions, workshops, or performances. On-campus housing may be offered to out-of-state artists, and a course audit can be arranged for full-semester participants.

Requirements

• A woman or non-binary visual artist working in any media, 18 years of age or older
• A resident of New York City, adjoining counties, or the Hudson Valley (Putnam, Dutchess, and Ulster counties) from September 2026–August 2027
• Have not had a solo exhibition at a permanent venue in NYC in the last 10 years
• Not a student or enrolled in any degree-granting program at the time of the program (September 2026–August 2027)
• Not participating in a comparable development, fellowship, or residency program at the time of the program (September 2026–August 2027)
• Not currently a member, employee, or board member of A.I.R. Gallery, and have not previously had a solo show at A.I.R.
• Not a Fellowship Program alum
• U.S. artist (J-1 visas are not processed)

Applicants must submit a resume or CV, cover letter, artist statement, and a portfolio of 15–20 recent works.

Schedule

Residencies run from a minimum of two weeks up to one year, with applications accepted on a rolling basis and scheduled months to a year in advance.
