About the role

Lifeguarding is a fun, admirable, and memorable experience with tons of privileges and rewards. Lifeguards are among the few summer jobs where you can truly make a difference in someone else's life, as well as your own.

Responsibilities

• Attend to guest safety in pool and run out areas.
• Maintain a proactive scanning pattern and remain in a rescue ready position.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Flexible schedule including morning, evening, weekends, and holidays.
• Able to work in all weather conditions.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Outgoing, friendly, energetic personality.
• Genuine interest in making people feel welcome.
• Keen to be part of something you believe in.
• Willing to learn, grow, and develop skills.
• Commitment to your team by being on time and working scheduled shifts.
• Desire to be outdoors for extended periods in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

No experience necessary. We offer free, paid training here on site through Starguard Elite. Certifications from other agencies (Red Cross/Ellis/YMCA) will not be honored here as lifeguarding certificates, however, if you have them, the classes will be mostly review and you will pass with no trouble. We take our lifeguard's training very seriously.

Skills

• Swimming (50 yards continuously and with a rescue tube).
• Treading water for 1 minute without the use of hands.
• Passing written and practical tests including rescues, CPR, and first aid.
• Attending 4 hours of in-service training per month.

Pay

$16.00/hour

Schedule

Varying schedule, available to work weekends and holidays from May to September.

Nitty Gritty Details

• Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.
• The employee must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull 50 pounds and push, pull, and carry 150 plus pounds in the water.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• The employee will be working outdoors and exposed to all types of weather and loud noise throughout the day.
• Ensure the correct and safe dispatch of guests, proper intervals on slides, provide crowd control for que lines, stacking and/or inflating tubes, and distribution of ride vehicles to guests.
• Participate in Starguard audit process.
