2026 Internship, Fall - Communications and Community
Red Bull New York (“RBNY”) is one of 30 teams in Major League Soccer (MLS) and one of the league’s ten original charter clubs. Founded in 1996, RBNY has competed in MLS since its inception. The First Team plays its home matches at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, New Jersey, and the Second Team plays at Montclair State University. RBNY is owned by Red Bull GmbH and is a three-time MLS Supporters’ Shield winner, a two-time Conference Champion, and the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro Champion. RBNY also operates one of the nation’s premier youth soccer development programs, with an Academy ranked among the top in the country.
About the role
In this internship, you will learn how the day-to-day operations of communications and community relations fields function on match days and non-match days. You will assist the communications and community relations teams with tasks including stats research, writing press releases, identifying media outlets and community organizations for collaboration, and transcribing quotes from press conferences.
This is an unpaid, 20-hour-per-week internship for academic credit (proof of credit requirement is required).
Responsibilities
- Write professional press releases for player transactions, schedule changes, international call-ups, and award recognitions.
- Create Game Notes and Post-Game Notes/Recaps.
- Conduct stats research.
- Moderate press conferences and media availabilities.
- Pitch interview opportunities and community collaborations.
- Draft match previews.
- Organize and execute player appearances and community events.
Requirements
- Pursuing a degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Interest in a career in Communications, Public Relations, or Marketing.
- Outgoing and open to learning opportunities.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience using Microsoft Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.).
- Experience using Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Lightroom).
Schedule
Assigned hours may vary to reflect the cyclical nature of the entertainment industry, including nights and weekends.
