2026 Fall High School Fellowship
About the role
Forward Montana is looking for fifteen high school students to participate in our High School Fellowship this coming fall. We're seeking candidates who are invested in utilizing democracy to create the change they wish to see, who are self-reliant leaders looking to address issues in their communities, and who love to learn about issues deeply and implement those learnings through practice.
Responsibilities
- Complete five training sessions covering topics such as storytelling, organizing paths, and voting turnout.
- Lead field efforts, including holding a clipboard and talking to strangers, and supporting others in these activities.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute fun events like Democracy Days, a high school voter registration drive, and mobilizing peers to vote in the upcoming Municipal election.
- Recruit cool people and volunteers to support your efforts.
- Work remotely, adhering to deadlines and managing time effectively.
Requirements
Availability at least 1 night each weeknight bi-weekly is required. Fellows will receive a $500 stipend upon completion of the fellowship. The start date will be August 1st. Applicants must be high school students in the Fall of 2026.
Qualifications
High school students in Montana or those who know interested students are encouraged to apply. Questions can be directed to Sylvia (she/her) at sylvia@forwardmontana.org. People of color, LGBTQ2S+ people, women, and people with disabilities are especially encouraged to apply. In-person events are subject to CDC regulations regarding COVID-19.
Benefits
The fellowship offers a robust civic education, some nice merchandise, and skills in event planning and community organizing. It also provides a $500 stipend upon completion.
