Overview

Butler Machinery Co and Butler Ag Equipment are seeking future Ag Equipment Diesel Technicians. Ideal candidates should have a passion for agriculture, strong work ethic, and basic mechanical skills. The ButlerMAX program offers scholarships, paid internships, and a 2-year technical training program at Lake Area Technical College (LATC) in Watertown, SD. Graduates earn an AAS degree in Diesel Technology and secure technician positions starting at over $32.73/hour.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.0 while in the program
  • Work the minimum number of internship hours required by the program (1,280)
  • Be prepared and on time for work and school
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment
  • Work independently and as part of a team
  • Secure housing arrangements at the school and internship location
  • Commit to lifelong learning and staying ahead of industry standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Required: High school juniors or seniors, high school diploma or GED
  • Age 18 by the first internship
  • Accepted by Lake Area Technical College by its application deadline
  • Applicants must submit an electronic application through the Butler Machinery Co website
  • Must have valid work authorization and be able to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship
  • Must have strong problem-solving skills and be able to learn new skills quickly

Benefits

The ButlerMAX program provides tuition, books, housing, tools, and fees not covered by the scholarship. Graduates earn an AAS degree in Diesel Technology and secure technician positions starting at over $32.73/hour. The program also offers continuing education and potential career advancement within Butler Machinery dealerships across North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Montana.

Schedule

The program is divided into 9, 8-week terms, rotating from LATC to internships at designated Butler Machinery stores. Internships are scheduled for the 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 8th rotations.

Skills

Graduates will have a strong foundation in AGCO systems and equipment, including brands such as Fendt, Massey Ferguson, and Gleaner. They will also develop essential skills in mechanical theory, communication, computer technology, organization, and safety.

Pay

Upon completion of the ButlerMAX program, graduates will transition to full-time employment at a Butler Machinery dealership location with technician positions starting at over $32.73/hour.
